The Salsology team are available to teach a variety of workshops. In order that all their students benefit from quality instruction The Salsology team prefer to teach as a leader/follower partnership. The Salsologists are also available for private lessons.

Workshops Taught

Turn Patterns On2 / Turn Patterns On1

Innovative and interesting turn patterns maintain interest and variety for the dancer. Taught by both a leader and follower, both parts are broken down fully with technique emphasised. Teaching functional and useful turn patterns that students really go on to dance is our aim.

Ladies Styling (Footwork) / Mens Styling (Footwork)

The icing on the cake, great styling timed appropriately adds interest and enjoyment to the dance. With an emphasis on body movement, arm and footwork patterns and most importantly - posture, this workshop is a fun and popular class for followers or leaders.

Ladies Styling (Partnerwork) / Mens Styling (Partnerwork)

We are frequently asked about footwork and styling that is suitable when in partnerhold. This workshop offers a variety of effective styling ideas that compliment turn patterns and feel comfortable to perform, as well as styling that is suitable and won't hinder good leading or following.

Spinning (notes given)

One of the most popular classes we teach and an essential element of good leading and following. The workshop consists of solo spinning technique and practice, and leading and following spins. The response to this workshop has always been immense and it was one of the busiest classes at the British Salsa Congress two years' running.

Advanced Spinning (notes given)

As before, but with an emphasis on styling spins and multiple spins, for both leaders and followers.

Footwork On1 / Footwork On2

Drawing upon a huge repertoire of footwork, the Salsologists teach useable and interesting footwork tailored to the ability of the participant.The workshop incorporates arm and body movement within footwork combinations for both men and women.

Leading and Following Technique (notes given)

Getting the basics right is what this workshop is all about. The workshop uncovers the secrets of good leading and following offering loads of handy hints and tips for gaining time, comfort and style during partnerwork.

La Rueda de Casino for Beginners/Improvers

La Rueda de Casino is a popular dance in Miami, Spain and Cuba and means ‘Wheel of the Club’ in Spanish. It’s a fun packed dance involving a group of dancers dancing together in a circle, led by one caller. This class will teach Rueda from basics and is excellent as a team-building exercise. Participants require some knowledge of salsa basic steps.

Turn Pattern/Footwork Combo

A jam-packed hour combining partnerwork and shines for the hard-core salsero.

Music and Timing for Salsa Dancers (notes given)

This workshop bridges the gap between the musician and the dancer and gives the participant a basic understanding of the variety of instrumentation and rhythmns that make up the music we love to dance to. It will aid in maintaining good timing and help the dancer to better interpret and connect with the music. Great fun, this workshop is attended by beginners and seasoned dancers who enjoy a light hearted and user-friendly approach to learning.

Introduction To Dancing On2 (notes given)

A practical and easy to follow workshop arming students with the basics of timing and technique for NY On2 style. Suitable for both leaders and followers who are provided with a firm grounding from which to expand their knowledge.

Cha Cha Footwork

Growing in popularity Cha Cha is still relatively rare to find danced in many clubs, perhaps because the lack of availability of classes. Cha Cha footwork helps students to understand the timing basics of Cha Cha and add interest and variety to shines sections.

DJing

Gary, Chris, Barry and Emma are available for DJing and all have a wealth of experience, extensive music collections and excellent reputations for dancefloor-friendly sets. Salsology DJs have a versatile style with a slant on big band Nu-Yorican and Puerto-Rican sounds that never lose sight of the dancefloor.
