What's Happening At Our September Party..
Kizomba is taking the UK by storm at the moment, with Salsa dancers taking beginners' classes all over the country. We're delighted to welcome Velma Dandzo, one of the UK's top Kizomba teachers, to take you through the basics - she'll get you dancing like a Kizombeiro in no time!
We've also got a salsa class and show from the very talented foursome, Ignite Dance Company, led by Rosa and Giles, from Oxford. Giles, if you remember, was one half of the couple who broke the Guinness World Record for Spinning at GBSEx in 2008!
We've non-stop mambo and salsa in our main room with resident DJs, Gary Thomas, Mike Parr, Chris Mee and Barry Griffin, all set to keep the floor pumping...
And, for Cuban lovers, we're dedicating our second party room to Cuban flava sounds and have invited Les and Lorraine (Mancuban) to DJ and teach.

Ignite Dance Company
Ignite Dance Company was formed in 2007. It brings together some of the UK's favourite Salsa dancers including Marcus Groves, and Giles & Rosa Eadle. Separately they have been teaching and performing throughout the UK and abroad for many years, and now they join forces to bring you spectacular shows full of style and energy that will captivate and enthral you.
They'll be teaching an On1 class at Salsology, and will be performing their brand new choreography.

 Velma Dandzo
Born in Hamburg, Germany Velma has been enticed by Latin rhythms from an early age. When she was 16 she joined the Domingos Ramos Rueda Dance troupe in Hamburg and soon found herself teaching and performing all over the country. Since moving to Manchester in 2000 she has been unstoppable and taken up Samba, LambadaZouk, Street dance, Tango, Bachata and finally fell in love with Kizomba in 2005. Her wish is to see Manchester succumb to the sensual rhythms of this enticing dance.
Velma’s passion and enthusiasm for dance are on offer in her energetic and fun classes!!!

 Mancuban
Mancuban is based in Manchester and run by Lorraine Mason and Les Murray. Both passionate about Cuban music and dance, together they have over 34 years of dancing, teaching and DJing salsa! Lorraine's background is in theatre and TV acting whilst Les, amongst other things, worked as an editor for the BBC on ground breaking music programme 'The Tube'. Wow! We've known these 2 for many years and they live and breathe Cuban salsa and run one of the best Cuban salsa parties in the country.
They'll be hosting Salsology's Cuban party room in September, teaching a Cuban TP class and DJing.

Barclays Live searches for Manchester's hottest dance acts!

Barclays is celebrating the ongoing investment in its branch network with a competition to find the country’s hottest dance acts, and it's coming to Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester on Saturday 4 September. The competition is open to anyone who thinks they've got what it takes to become Britain's next dancing superstar, be it as an individual, duo, group or troupe. The top ten entries will be put through to live auditions, which will take place on a stage at Piccadilly Gardens. These contestants will perform in front of a celebrity panel of judges including Strictly Come Dancing's Brendan Cole, as well as an audience made up of the great people of Manchester! The top five acts will then be subject to a public vote to decide the winner via the Barclays Live website www.barclayslive.co.uk. The winning act will be waltzing away with a pair of VIP tickets to see Brendan Cole in action as well as dancing all the way to the bank with a cool £1,000!
